EXAMINATION FOR A
POLICE OFFICER POSITION
FOR THE CITY OF WAUSEON
The Wauseon Civil Service Commission will administer a written examination for the position of a “Police Officer” for the Police Division of the City of Wauseon. Candidates will take the Civil Service Exam on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Wauseon Municipal Building in the Fire Department Training Room at 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, Ohio.
Potential candidates will be required to take a physical examination by a licensed physician and undergo psychological testing and drug testing and undergo an extensive background check. A polygraph examination will also be administered to candidates before employment.
Application forms are available at the Wauseon Police Department, 230 Clinton Street Wauseon, Ohio. Applications may be obtained at our dispatch window at any time before October 18th or by calling 419-335-3821 to have an application emailed.
Each candidate must pay a $20.00 (non-refundable) application fee at the time they submit their application. Applications must be returned to the Wauseon Police Department by Friday, October 18th, 2019.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS – Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must provide proof that they have met the education requirements at the time of application. A valid driver’s license is required without record of suspension or revocation in any state; must be certified as Ohio Peace Officer; must obtain LEADS and OHLEG certification by the end of probationary period; must qualify annually with firearm; and any other licensure required.
Applicants wishing to obtain military credit must supply copies of DD214 certification at the time of application to receive an additional 10% to their passing score.
Successful candidates are required to serve a one (1) year probationary period.
Starting salary begins at $20.35 and upon completion of probationary period, prior years as a police officer in Ohio will be credited on wage/vacation scale and includes liberal fringe benefits.
